hello

new followers :) Please be sure to follow my casual/fun/active blog nikkismusings

this blog sits around a lot til I actually get some fun and interesting shoots lined up!

Hi new followers!

A bunch of you appeared over night! Maybe it was the art school owl post..but nevertheless thanks for joining me and my exploits. :) I just did a shoot with a friend of mine yesterday. It was fun, although also a near death experience when a sudden storm roared through and we couldn’t get her car started for a half hour. Much hydroplaning ensued when we finally did!

Me on left, Brittany on right. 10 mins before Florida tried to kill us.

And the rain comes. Head lights are from Creepy guy who sat in his truck as we shot…and then Brittany’s car wouldn’t start for 20 minutes..and he sat there the whole time…facing us with his lights on! Scary!

Aaaand we’re hydroplaning it outta there…we got like 7 minutes of shooting time :( But a few good shots (to come later…)

Fix up the hair at home and hit the stairwell for some more shooting! Rain be damned.

When I get a chance to edit, I’ll put up some of the shots we got. :)

Hello all-

Please follow my more active blog in which I share things!

Buddy, The Blind Dog

Meet Buddy, he’s a lot like any other 10 year old Yellow Lab, except for he’s almost completely blind.

I’ve known Buddy for his whole lifetime because he’s my uncle’s dog, he was not very unlike the Lab “Marley” in the movie Marley & Me; he liked to cause a lot of chaos and generally was just very energetic and vibrant.

A few months ago, Buddy developed diabetes. The vet gave him too low a dosage of insulin, so before my uncle knew it, Buddy was beginning to lose sight in his right eye. Within a week, both eyes were affected. My uncle eventually went to another vet to get Buddy a better dosage but it was too late by then.

He’s often talking about putting Buddy down the old fashioned way. He let me know yesterday that he could never do that and doing so would be  a huge mistake.

That’s true enough. Just because he’s blind, Buddy still wags his tail when called and enjoys the feeling of a fan blowing a cool breeze in his face.

Personally, I think he has a long way to go.

How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d..
